So my Friend Chucker got a Macro lens with his new Digicam... Don't you just KNOW I'm going to have some fun with THAT! So I pulled some of the critters out, placed them in my "Makeshift Photo studio", and clickety-click I went. I got some real interesting shots of the starfish, but the rest of them turned out pretty poor. Subject Matter was a little too small, and a little too fast. Just as well, I'm not so sure I really want to know what all of the stuff in my tank looks like anyway :-)
What you are seeing here is a bunch of white paper spread out on top of my dining room table. I don't have any of the neccessary equipment to make a real lighting studio for photography, so I just made do. I took a Petri Dish cover (had it lying around from something I ordered years ago), and opened up the hood to my tank, so all 770 Watts of light were blasting at me. I went fishing for the Starfish and other bugs with a Turkey Baster, and once caught, I simply deposited them in the Petri Dish. It wasn't always easy to get them to hold still while I took the photo, but I found it worked if you position the camera in an area in front of the critter, and wait for them to move into it. At Any rate, for those that are intersted, here are some REALLY close pictures of the Mini Brittle Stars you get From Inland Aquatics, when ordering a refugium kit. |
